The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and Pollard Banknote Limited are celebrating the success of their ‘The Big Spin’ instant ticket, following its launch in September of last year.

After investing in several years of research and development, the extensive planning resulted in sales being almost triple the lottery’s average of other $5 games launched since 2014, after just ten weeks on the market.

OLG followed that up with a second The Big Spin game a few weeks later, with a third added towards the end of 2017.

Brad Thompson, Director, Sales & Marketing, Pollard Banknote, said: “Player word of mouth is the most powerful driver of instant ticket sales.

“THE BIG SPIN pushes this strategy to the extreme with the unprecedented way in which prizes are publicly awarded. We are excited to be a part of this innovative game, and we look forward to working with OLG to continue providing players with unique and exciting instant ticket experiences.”

Players using the ticket have to match numbers on a wheel, which offers the chance of a cash prize upto $100,000 or to win a spin at an OLG retail location.

Upon redeeming the spin, a cash prize of between $10 – $10,000 is guaranteed, or ticket holders could scoop the ultimate prize of a big spin.

Taking place on the big spin wheel at the OLG prize centre in Toronto, it guarantees the lucky customer a prize of between $100,000 and $500,000.

Adam Caughill, Director, Lottery Business Development & Innovation at OLG, added: “The big spin has been more successful than we could have expected.

“Although we planned the first issue of the game to be in the market for six months, we ran out of stock in just four weeks! We look forward to continuing to offer new player experiences like this in the future to drive sales, and ultimately support communities across Ontario.”
