The Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (LMB), the governing body of Mexico’s top baseball league, has formed a new integrity partnership with Genius Sports, a global provider of sports technology and integrity services.

As the trusted integrity partner to some of the largest organisations in world sport including Major League Baseball, the PGA TOUR and the English Premier League, Genius Sports will help to proactively safeguard Mexican baseball from the threats of match-fixing and betting-related corruption.

Real-time odds movements on all LMB games will be monitored, analysed and cross-referenced with predictive algorithms by the firm’s Bet Monitoring System to highlight potentially suspicious activity.

LMB players, umpires, officials and other stakeholders will be provided with a series of expert educational workshops, demonstrating the type of information match-fixers look for, the measures in place to report suspicious information and the potential consequences of integrity scandals.

Javier Salinas, president of LMB, said: “For the LMB, it is of the utmost importance to take preventive measures against any action that may lead to the corruption of our games. It is important that our fans and commercial partners have absolute certainty of the ethics and values of our league. We offer a world-class sporting competition, we have a league with integrity and this agreement will put us at the level of the best sports leagues in the world in preventing match-fixing.”

Ben Paterson, integrity operations director of Genius Sports, said: “By combining 24/7 bet monitoring protection with educational workshops, the LMB will be able to both detect any potential irregularities and prevent future incidents of betting-related corruption. We look forward to working alongside them to safeguard the transparency of their competitions.”
