Hospitality group and regional gaming venue operator Delaware North has opened its two West Virginia casino sportsbooks and launched its BetLucky.com online and mobile app for state-wide sports wagering this week.

The retail sportsbooks at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling and Mardi Gras Casino & Resort near Charleston opened on December 27 after notifying the West Virginia Lottery Commission and the completion of field testing.

In October, Delaware North announced its partnership with Miomni Gaming, a provider of US mobile sports wagering technology, to provide turnkey retail and mobile sports wagering services. Since then the companies have focused on launching both retail and online sports wagering in West Virginia simultaneously.

The BetLucky.com sports wagering online and mobile app is the first to be available in West Virginia. Delaware North and Miomni have worked to create a user-friendly registration process. The free app can be downloaded directly at BetLucky.com or from the Apple App Store and can be used to wager anywhere within the state of West Virginia.

“We think West Virginians and visitors to the Mountain State are going to love how easy it is to register and use the app,” said Luisa Woods, vice president of marketing for Delaware North’s gaming division. The platform was designed to be flexible, easy to use and reliable, with innovative features designed specifically to engage and entertain US sports fans. Patrons at the casinos can use the app or the betting tellers in the sportsbooks.”

At the two West Virginia casinos, Delaware North has created sportsbook spaces with flexible configurations and high visibility. The design and amenities foster a casual sports bar atmosphere with social seating and proximity to food and beverage options, including bars. The casino sportsbooks plan to offer a robust event calendar focused on major sports events.

“Our patrons are going to enjoy these spaces in the casinos and everything else we have to offer in terms of hospitality and entertainment,” said Kim Florence, regional president and general manager for both Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras. “We are eager to welcome people from throughout the state and the regions surrounding West Virginia to try a new experience at our casinos.”

With the launch in West Virginia, Delaware North and Miomni are positioned to create an exclusive sportsbook technology platform for Delaware North’s gaming properties in states where sports wagering is or becomes legal and also to provide a turnkey sportsbook technology solution to other casino operators in North America.

“We are focused on delivering on the promise of integrated destination entertainment and convenience gaming,” Woods said. “The partnership with Miomni will allow us to serve a new market of casino operators anxious to benefit from gaming expansion cost-efficiently, while increasing the visibility of their brand, deepening their customer relationships and enhancing the quality of their service offerings.”
