NBC Sports will debut a brand new national radio show dedicated to sports betting on January 2. The Daily Line, hosted by the firm’s Washington anchor man Michael Jenkins and SB Nation Radio’s Tim Murray, will be broadcast from NBC Sports’ Washington studio.

While sports news and statistics will feature, the aim of the program is to introduce more of a gambling element to the mix with input from guest sharps and odds makers. There will be recaps of betting results with particular emphasis on big winning and losing wagers.

The key principle, however, is to keep the format simple enough for casual sports bettors. Speaking in the Washington Post, Jenkins explained: “I don’t think anyone expects me to give a deep dive into my algorithm or spread sheets. I’ve been to Vegas like 15 times. I love to gamble, but I’m not a degenerate gambler. We want to have conversations with the average sports fans.”

Jenkins is already an experienced sports voice. He regularly anchors the network’s daily half-hour news program, SportsNet Central, where he provides an entertaining and comprehensive account of the day’s top sports stories. As a reporter, he delivers coverage of the stories and events that help shape the area’s sports scene.

The launch of Daily Line follows hot on the heels of the introduction of the broadcaster’s free-to-play NBC Sports Predictor games app which gives eligible US fans the chance to win cash prizes. The first game to feature is Premier League Pick ‘Em which went live last week.

“We are excited to introduce NBC Sports’ first free-to-play game, which will allow fans to play along while they watch their favorite NBC Sports action,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, Senior Vice President, NBC Sports Ventures. “The new app is a rich, multi-media experience that blends fun and accessible game play with NBC Sports’ on-air talent and compelling content offerings.”
