Online sports publishing firm Covers Media Group, the corporate owner of Covers.com, has had its application for a Sports Wagering Registrant certificate of registration accepted for filing by the Indiana Gaming Commission this week.

The IGC license permits the firm to expand its business partnerships with legal sportsbooks and online gaming operators within the state of Indiana, allowing information sites like Covers.com to activate affiliate relationships involving revenue share and fees for referred customers to those partnered operators.

Mark Harper, General Manager of Covers Media Group and Nova Scotia Sports Media Pros, commented: “This is in line with our commitment to continue to work with our sportsbook operator partners in those legislated US states.

“On the back of the news that we are approved to operate the Covers sports betting products in Indiana, we are set to complete several partnerships with in-state operators.”

The Covers brand enters the Indiana market with almost prodigious timing. The state only launched sports wagering on September 1 this year, but has already seen a surge in handle, rising 160% in October to $91.7m, thanks to the introduction of mobile betting.
