Discussions are underway between DC United and Caesars to potentially open a sportsbook at the stadium of the MLS side, according to The Washington Post

The 20,000 Audi Field is currently embarking on a period of renovation as the club looks to modernize the stadium and increase match day engagement, potentially through the formation of a sportsbook at the arena.

It’s reported that the plans could lead to an enhanced collaboration between the casino operator and the club, with Caesars potentially becoming the sleeve sponsor of DC United.

Speaking to the Washington Post, DC United’s Chief Business Officer, Andy Bush, revealed: “We are absolutely excited about the opportunity to partner with Caesars. It would be an incredible opportunity to engage with our fans.”

Richard Broome, executive vice president for communications and government relations at Caesars Entertainment, added more cautiously: “We’re interested in a partnership with DC United, but we aren’t there yet.”

The plans follow the ambitious collaboration between William Hill US and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, that is set to see a sportsbook launch at the home of the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, and Washington Mystics.

Providing it overcomes all required regulatory approvals the partnership will include the creation of the first sports book at a US professional sports venue, with the development of a William Hill Sports Book at Capital One Arena. William Hill also will become the exclusive sports betting partner of the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Washington Mystics and Monumental Sports & Entertainment.
