The Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis Commission, (AGLC)  an agency of the government of the Canadian province of Alberta, has launched PlayAlberta.ca. The regulated, online gambling website is available to Albertans over the age of 18 and physically located within the province’s borders.

The new gambling portal features a platform of virtual slots and table games with more features being added in the coming months.

In addition to popular land-based and online titles, PlayAlberta.ca integrates AGLC’s GameSense responsible gambling program, which promotes healthy gambling behavior with access to tools and resources via GameSense.

Available on browsers through desktop, tablet and smartphones, PlayAlberta.ca will provide a secure, aged-controlled environment. At signup, Albertans will be required to verify their identity before having access to the platform’s features.

To support the relationship with existing venues, AGLC has established an online gambling advisory committee consisting of representatives from the province’s gaming industry. This will ensure that Play Alberta complements Alberta’s land-based venues while allowing online players to have access to a legal and secure website.

In June 2020, AGLC announced NeoPollard Interactive as the successful proponent for building Alberta’s online gambling platform. PlayAlberta.ca makes certain that money played in Alberta will stay in Alberta, ensures protection on account withdrawals and offers a suite of responsible gambling features, such as bet and time limits.
